Who We Are

Grace N Mercy is a 501c3, non-profit Christian organization that is passionate about eliminating homelessness in North Carolina’s Hertford & Bertie’s counties for single women and their children by providing a safe haven, excellent educational and vocational training, and support in developing various life skills. We believe in strengthening mothers with career skills, accountability, and stability in order to assist them in achieving financial independence, social dignity, and responsible civility.

We serve first-time mothers, teenage mothers, and mothers of young children (under age 2) who are victims of homelessness. As we serve mothers, we also serve their young children by providing basic and essential items for daily living and daycare. We understand that homelessness has many underlying causes that extend beyond shelter. Housing voucher programs have quickly closed registrations due to an overwhelming number of applications. Also, it takes an extraordinary amount of time for applicants to be approved for low-income housing. Our transitional home will provide more than a safe shelter and reliable transportation.
