Women’s Shelter
Grace N MercY is a 501c3, non-profit Christian organization that is passionate about eliminating homelessness in North Carolina’s Hertford and Bertie counties for single women and their children by providing a safe haven, excellent educational and vocational training, and support in developing various life skills. We serve first-time mothers, teenage mothers, and mothers of young children (under age 2) who are victims of homelessness.

Our Programs
We believe in strengthening mothers with career skills, accountability, and stability to assist them in achieving financial independence, social dignity, and responsible civility. Single mothers and their children will spend up to two years in our women’s shelter as they transition through the program eventually obtaining housing. As shelter residents, they will receive their own housing essentials so that when they move, they will have all they need to furnish a new home. Our program will allocate a portion of their earned funds to assist them with move in costs and security deposits.

We recognize that homelessness has many underlying causes that extend beyond shelter. As we serve mothers, we also serve their young children by providing basic and essential items for daily living. We also provide FREE daycare for our mothers so that they can develop their careers and earn a living.
